Chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) Walid Gamal El-Din said on Monday, July 6, 2026, that integrating technical education with industrial needs is a key pillar of sustainable investment within the zone. He stressed that successful industrial development depends on the availability of highly skilled and well-trained technical workers.
His remarks came during a meeting with representatives of Elsewedy Technical Academy at the SCZone headquarters in the Sokhna Industrial Zone to review efforts to strengthen the link between vocational education and industrial requirements. Gamal El-Din said involving investors in identifying training needs is essential to ensuring that graduates' skills match the current and future requirements of factories.
Meanwhile, Chief Executive Officer of Elsewedy Technical Academy and Secretary-General of Elsewedy Electric Foundation Hanan El-Rehani said the academy believes that empowering young people is the key to progress by equipping them with practical skills required by the labor market and creating pathways for continuous learning and professional development.
She added that the academy aims to expand its reach across Egypt by establishing more technical schools tailored to the industrial needs of each region, helping prepare qualified technical personnel in line with international standards. In a statement, the SCZone said the event featured presentations on the authority's efforts to support industrial investment and human capital development, as well as the academy's role in advancing technical education, followed by an overview of its educational model.
The event also included an expanded discussion session with investors on mechanisms for identifying training needs, opportunities for cooperation in designing technical programs, and linking training with employment opportunities in factories. The authority noted that it had previously signed a cooperation protocol with Elsewedy Electric Foundation through Elsewedy Technical Academy to enhance vocational training, professional qualification, and align educational outcomes with labor market needs in the industrial zones under the SCZone.
The protocol falls under the presidential initiative "Alliance and Development". It paves the way for the opening and operation of the academy's branch in the Sokhna Industrial Zone in September 2026, supporting industrial and investment expansion plans and improving the readiness of technical personnel for industrial projects.
The cooperation aims to establish an integrated vocational training system based on assessing the actual needs of industrial companies through specialized practical programs in electricity, mechanics, operation, maintenance, as well as occupational safety and health.
