Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly said the government gives high priority to drinking water and wastewater projects, given their direct impact on quality of life, public health and environmental protection. Madbouly made these remarks while inspecting a wastewater treatment plant in Baltim resort city and a number of development projects in Kafr El-Sheikh.
The visit aimed to review the plant’s operational status and ongoing works to complete the wastewater system serving Baltim Resort City and targeted villages in Baltim. Madbouly was accompanied by Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Minister Randa el Menshawy, Labor Minister Hassan Raddad, Kafr El Sheikh Governor Ibrahim Mekki, National Organization for Potable Water and Sanitary Drainage Chairman Amin Shawky, and a number of senior executive officials.
Housing Minister Randa el Menshawy said the National Organization for Potable Water and Sanitary Drainage has 127 projects in Kafr El Sheikh, with a total cost of EGP 6.81 billion. The treatment plant has a capacity of 22,000 cubic meters per day in its first phase, rising to 33,000 cubic meters in the second phase.
It serves around 350,000 people and is connected to 10 lift stations, 79.6 km of gravity networks and 28.9 km of force mains. The project aims to provide wastewater services to Baltim resort city and eight surrounding villages. Madbouly stressed the need to complete the remaining works and bring projects into service, ensuring that citizens directly benefit from state investments in water and wastewater infrastructure.
He also directed officials to ensure compliance with environmental standards, conduct regular water quality tests and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure efficient and sustainable operation.
