Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly affirmed full coordination between the government and the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) as part of preparations for the National Economic Transformation Program, based on an integrated vision reflecting the state’s economic priorities for the coming period.
This is being carried out in implementation of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives and aims to ensure the integration of economic, fiscal, monetary, and sectoral policies and measures, while achieving a tangible impact on the national economy. Madbouly made the remarks during a meeting on Monday, August 24, 2026, with CBE Governor Hassan Abdalla at the government headquarters in New Alamein City.
The meeting was held as part of regular coordination between the government and CBE to follow up on priority economic issues and discuss mechanisms for strengthening financial and monetary stability. The meeting reviewed several issues related to the performance of the Egyptian economy during the current period, including coordination efforts to continue reducing inflation rates, efforts to increase dollar inflows, indicators related to strengthening the state’s foreign currency reserves, and economic and structural reforms.
The meeting also confirmed that Egypt has safe levels of foreign currency reserves capable of securing the country’s strategic needs for essential commodities. Continuous efforts are being made to strengthen strategic stocks of various commodities through ongoing coordination between the government and the Central Bank in this regard.
For his part, Abdalla said that the CBE Board of Directors had approved the regulations governing services under the Digital Financial Identity System, which enables banks to identify customers and electronically verify their identities. The move comes as part of the bank’s ongoing efforts to support digital transformation and promote financial inclusion, in line with the Egyptian state’s vision of transitioning to digital financial services.
He explained that the regulations establish an integrated regulatory framework for services under the Digital Financial Identity System, covering governance of the system and defining the roles and responsibilities of all participating parties, as well as technical and operational requirements, data protection controls, and cybersecurity measures.
This is intended to ensure that services are delivered according to the highest standards of security and efficiency and in line with international best practices. Press Release regarding POLITICO report on El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant Project
