Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on Monday, August 24, 2026, held a meeting with Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk, who said that Egypt's economic indicators were showing notable improvement alongside continued private-sector growth and an expanding role in economic activity.
Kouchouk added that the private sector currently accounts for around 60% of investments, reflecting its growing contribution to economic growth and higher levels of investment, production and employment. He said international investors renewed their confidence in Egypt's economic trajectory, noting that the government's economic reforms had positively affected investors' assessment of the country's investment climate, while risk levels had fallen to their lowest since 2014.
Kouchouk stressed the importance of coordinating efforts to boost investment flows and strengthen Egypt's ability to attract further investments. He said that several economic sectors have recorded strong activity recently, particularly manufacturing, telecommunications and information technology, and tourism, describing the developments as evidence of improving economic activity and the investment climate.
The private sector is a key partner in achieving economic development, Kouchouk noted. The government is continuing to provide further incentives and facilitations, particularly in taxation and customs, to support companies' expansion and investment growth, encourage higher production and employment, and boost their contribution to economic growth, he said.
Regarding tax facilitation, Kouchouk said the ministry aims to turn the measures into tangible services for citizens and taxpayers by expanding specialized tax service centers and developing easier and faster digital services. He also said the launch of the "Real Estate Transactions" application marked a new step in digitizing tax services for individuals.
The application enables citizens to complete real estate transaction procedures electronically, from registering transaction details and uploading required documents to paying the applicable tax and obtaining an electronic tax clearance certificate. The minister stressed that the ministry would continue to modernize tax administration through greater use of technology, streamlined procedures and closer engagement with the business community, while regularly listening to the concerns of citizens and taxpayers to improve service quality, encourage voluntary compliance and enhance the efficiency of the tax system.
