Egypt exported 4,370 food shipments totaling 208,000 tons between August 15 and 21, 2026, shipped by 1,410 exporting companies and covering around 758 food products, the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) said on Sunday, August 23, 2026. In its 31st weekly report for 2026, the authority said the exports included vegetables and tubers, fruits, preserved fruit and vegetable products, flour and grain products, and various other food items.

Vegetable exports totaled 50,000 tons across 45 varieties. Sweet potatoes topped the list at 20,000 tons, followed by onions at 10,000 tons and potatoes at 5,000 tons. Fruit exports reached 36,000 tons across 34 varieties, led by strawberries at 13,000 tons, followed by citrus fruits at 7,000 tons and mangoes at 6,000 tons.

Tunisia was the largest importer of Egyptian food products during the week, followed by Italy, Syria, Saudi Arabia and the Netherlands, among 182 countries importing Egyptian food products. Alexandria Port ranked first in the number of food export consignments, with 740 shipments, followed by Safaga Port with 703 and Damietta Port with 630.

As for food imports, Egypt received 1,917 food consignments totaling around 220,000 tons, imported by 858 companies. The shipments included wheat, soybeans and various oils. Russia topped the list of food suppliers to Egypt during the week, followed by Indonesia, the United States, Australia and China, among 84 countries exporting food products to the Egyptian market.

Alexandria Port also ranked first in food import consignments with 679 shipments, followed by Cairo International Airport with 381 and Port Said Port with 220.
