Agriculture and Land Reclamation Minister Alaa Farouk held talks on Sunday, August 23, 2026, with Dutch Embassy Agricultural Counselor Tycho Vermeulen on boosting agricultural investment and exchanging expertise between Egypt and the Netherlands. The meeting discussed opening new avenues for Dutch investment in Egypt, with a focus on transferring modern irrigation technologies to reduce water consumption, as well as developing protected agriculture and value chains.
The two sides also reviewed ways to benefit from the Netherlands’ advanced experience in managing agricultural cooperatives and transforming them into strong economic entities. They also discussed targeted training programs to support small farmers, improve agricultural marketing efficiency, increase their incomes and enhance the quality of crops for both domestic consumption and export.
Farouk affirmed that Egypt is ready to facilitate the expansion of Dutch companies in the Egyptian market and their participation in major national projects, highlighting the government’s strong focus on promoting investment and partnerships and providing support, particularly in the agricultural sector.
