Egypt has introduced new customs facilitation measures aiming at reducing clearance period, easing procedures for businesses and improving the country’s investment climate, Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk said on Tuesday, June 2, 2026. The measures, which include amendments to the executive regulations of the Customs Law, will allow importers to begin customs procedures as soon as goods arrive at ports without submitting a delivery order at the initial stage, provided it is completed before final release.
Authorities will also accept a bill of lading issued in the importer’s name when filing a customs declaration, with remaining requirements to be completed before final clearance. Kouchouk said the changes are intended to ease documentation and procedures for importers and exporters, improve customs services and logistics performance, and support trade and productive activities.
