Montenegro’s President Jakov Milatović said that his country values its longstanding friendship with Egypt, welcoming the steady growth in bilateral relations during talks with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on Monday, July 20, 2026. The meeting focused on expanding cooperation across a range of sectors and advancing issues of mutual interest, with senior ministers and business representatives from both countries in attendance.
He said the visit would witness the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Alexandria Port Authority and the Port of Bar, describing the agreement as an important step toward strengthening maritime, logistics and trade cooperation between the two countries.
The Montenegrin President also praised Egypt's role in promoting peace and regional stability in the Middle East, commending Cairo's efforts to contain regional crises and support diplomatic solutions. Milatović expressed his country's interest in expanding cooperation in civil aviation to facilitate travel and boost trade and investment.
He also called for closer academic cooperation through exchange programs between Egyptian universities and their Montenegrin counterparts. Madbouly said the government was committed to swiftly translating the outcomes of the talks into concrete action. He said the foreign and investment ministers had been tasked with overseeing implementation and establishing a clear timetable for agreed initiatives.
