Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Randa El-Manshawy discussed with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) ways to strengthen cooperation on water infrastructure projects. The projects focus on seawater desalination, as the government seeks to expand sustainable water resources and attract private investment.
During a meeting with an IFC delegation led by Saad Sabra, the institution's Regional Manager for Egypt, El-Manshawy said the ministry is prioritizing the development of the drinking water and sanitation sector, alongside expanding desalination projects in line with the government's sustainable development agenda She said Egypt has adopted an integrated national strategy to expand seawater desalination as a key pillar of water resource management, aiming to increase the use of non-conventional water sources while supporting urban expansion and economic development.
El-Manshawy stressed the importance of expanding partnerships with the private sector and international financial institutions to mobilize innovative and sustainable financing, support technology transfer and establish a competitive industrial base for desalination equipment.
She also reaffirmed the ministry's commitment to creating an investment-friendly environment that supports integration between infrastructure projects and local industry.
