Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid Saleh discussed with Haitham El-Maayergi, Vice President of the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), and Ciro Aquino, Head of the Middle East and Africa Region at the Italian Export Credit Agency (SACE), ways to enhance export financing and guarantee instruments and support the expansion of Egyptian companies into African markets.
The discussions took place on the sidelines of the Alamein Africa GO63 Forum, in the presence of senior officials from the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), the Sovereign Fund of Egypt and the Export Development Authority. The Minister stressed the importance of developing financing and trade credit guarantee instruments to reduce the risks facing Egyptian companies expanding into foreign markets and facilitate project financing, thereby strengthening their ability to access African markets and capitalize on available trade and investment opportunities.
He also highlighted the importance of identifying companies’ needs and the challenges they face and connecting them with financial institutions to provide financing solutions tailored to their needs and support their growth and international expansion. The talks with Afreximbank covered opportunities for cooperation under the “Egypt Goes for Export” initiative, helping connect Egyptian companies with financing and trade opportunities in African markets.
The meeting with SACE focused on leveraging export credit and financing instruments to support the international expansion of Egyptian companies, as well as opportunities for cooperation in renewable energy and green transition projects.
