Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid on Thursday, August 13, 2026, stressed the importance of outlining investment opportunities in Matrouh Governorate as well as preparing technical and economic studies meant to turn them into projects ready to be offered to investors and implemented with a view to creating job opportunities and utilizing the governorate’s resources and assets.
The minister made the remarks during a meeting with Matrouh Governor Mohamed el-Zamlout to discuss a number of investment proposals in the governorate and ways to make use of the investment systems issued under Investment Law No 72 of 2017, in a way that supports development efforts, promotes investment localization and boosts productive and operational capacities.
The meeting reviewed the technical and economic requirements of the proposed projects, including their infrastructure, utilities and energy needs. Farid said the ministry is coordinating with the various state bodies to increase the supply of land and areas equipped for investment and develop integrated zones ready to host projects.
“This would speed up establishment, operation and production procedures and provide investors with a range of options suited to their needs,” the Minister said. He highlighted the importance of strengthening private-sector participation in development and management activities and drawing on the expertise of specialized developers, which would help improve the management of investment zones and create an environment better prepared to receive investments.
The Investment Minister stressed the necessity of coordination among state institutions to advance development efforts across the governorates and direct investments in line with the advantages and characteristics of each governorate, alongside finalizing the necessary studies and identifying suitable development and management models for investment opportunities.
For his part, the governor of Matrouh said Matrouh is witnessing growing investment interest given its strategic location, diverse assets and resources, as well as the development momentum in the North Coast region.
