Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty reiterated the importance of strengthening cooperation with regional and international partners in the energy sector to consolidate Egypt's stand as a regional hub for energy trading and commerce, making use of its strategic geographic location, developed infrastructure, logistical capabilities and specialized facilities.

The Minister made the remarks during a meeting with Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi to discuss ways to step up joint efforts to promote investment opportunities in Egypt's oil and mining sectors, especially ahead of the Egypt Mining Forum scheduled for September 2026.

The meeting also took up ways to promote investment opportunities in the oil and gas sector and diversify and maximize the use of Egypt's natural resources. The two ministers underlined the importance of promoting the upcoming edition of the Egypt Mining Forum, which is scheduled to be held in September 2026 in the New Capital under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

The forum will bring together mining industry leaders, investors and Egyptian and international companies, providing a platform to showcase promising investment opportunities in oil and gas exploration, development and production to international companies operating in Egypt.

Abdelatty underscored the need to exchange expertise and experience with energy-producing countries in exploration and production, as well as deploying the latest technologies to explore and develop natural resources, as efforts would help enhance the sector's competitiveness and help attract more foreign investment.

The Minister of Petroleum said that the Egypt Mining Forum was part of intensified efforts to promote Egypt's significant mineral resources and investment opportunities. “The ministry has worked to improve the investment environment in the mining sector, develop legislation, introduce reforms and offer investment incentives aimed at maximizing the use of Egypt's mineral resources and increasing mining's contribution to the national economy,” he said.

Badawi also stressed the importance of cooperation with the Foreign Ministry in promoting oil, gas and mining investment opportunities and incentives abroad, through the ministry's diplomatic efforts. “All efforts are meant to support specialized petroleum-sector companies seeking to expand into new foreign markets in project implementation, maintenance and infrastructure work,” he said.
