Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem discussed expansion plans and efforts to increase local manufacturing with executives from Samsung Electronics during a meeting in Cairo on Tuesday, June 23, 2026. The talks focused on the company’s operations in Egypt, future investment plans and opportunities to deepen local production in the electronics sector.
Hashem reaffirmed the government’s support for Samsung’s expansion, describing electronics and technology as priority sectors under Egypt’s Industrial Strategy 2030 aiming at boosting exports and positioning the country as a regional manufacturing hub. The minister also stressed the importance of increasing local components and expanding reliance on Egyptian suppliers through supplier development programs.Samsung officials said the corporation remains committed to investing in Egypt and enhancing local manufacturing capabilities.
They highlighted the corporation’s use of solar energy, which currently provides around 25% of its energy needs, with plans to increase the share of renewable energy in line with Egypt’s green transition goals.
