The state is preparing to implement an integrated strategy to develop small and medium-sized industries, aiming to strengthen the country's industrial base and improve the competitiveness of locally made products, Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem said Tuesday, June 23, 2026.
Addressing the Senate during discussions on industrial development, Hashem said the plan focuses on supporting small manufacturers, integrating them into local and global supply chains and boosting domestic production. He said the ministry would continue supporting all factories, including struggling businesses, to preserve productive capacity and increase industrial output.
The strategy also seeks to raise local components levels, enhance workforce skills and attract investment, while supporting young entrepreneurs through ready-to-use production units in industrial zones. The minister added that the chemicals industry remains a key pillar of Egypt’s Industrial Strategy 2030 due to its links to major economic sectors and its role in attracting investment and creating jobs.
