Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem asserted that the electrical and engineering industries are among the seven priority sectors in the Egyptian Industry Strategy 2030 due to their high added value, promising export potential and pivotal role in localizing technology and deepening local manufacturing to meet domestic market needs and boost exports.

This came during a meeting held by the industry minister on Wednesday July 8,026 with ABB Egypt Chairman Ahmed Hammad to discuss the company's expansion plans in the Egyptian market and its role in supporting national projects. The meeting reviewed the company's manufacturing capabilities, which include its main factory in 10th of Ramadan City acting as ABB’s main hub for the Middle East and Africa, alongside two other factories in the Nasr City and Suez free zones.

Company officials explained that the local component reaches 78% in some products, noting that the company exported about 25% of its total 2025 production to over 50 countries, while its export markets increased during the first half of 2026 to more than 60 countries.

The meeting also addressed the company's plan to rationalize energy consumption and reduce carbon emissions within its factories to enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian products in European and global markets, as well as its desire to participate in the "Industry Sun" initiative by installing solar power plants on its factory roofs, alongside reviewing the prominent national projects the company has co-executed.

The minister pointed out the ministry's keenness to provide all forms of support to the company and overcome any challenges facing its expansions in Egypt, stressing the importance of ABB continuing to develop its local supplier network and increase the local component and added value.

For his part, ABB Egypt Chairman Ahmed Hammad affirmed that the company considers the Egyptian market one of its most important strategic markets in the region, noting that its history of over 100 years in Egypt reflects its commitment to supporting industrial development by transferring the latest technologies and continuously investing in local capabilities.

He added that ABB continues to provide integrated solutions that help various industrial sectors raise operational efficiency, enhance productivity and reduce energy consumption to support the state’s goals in building a more advanced and sustainable industrial sector.
