Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty lauded the steady development of Egyptian-South Korean relations in recent years. Abdelatty made the remarks on Monday, June 1st, 2026, during his meeting with Hong Seok-hwa, Vice President of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) for Africa, the Middle East, and Central and South America.
They discussed ways of strengthening bilateral cooperation and exploring new areas of partnership in development, economic and educational fields. Abdelatty underlined the importance of building on the current momentum in relations to advance cooperation across areas of mutual interest, in a way that serves the interests of both countries and reflects their comprehensive cooperative partnership.
He also highlighted the significance of a memorandum of understanding signed between the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development and KOICA, on the sidelines of the 2024 Korea-Africa Summit. He said that it could help promote trilateral cooperation between Egypt, South Korea and African countries, particularly in infrastructure, renewable energy and sustainable development.
