The Ministry of Education and Technical Education announced on Monday, June 1, 2026, the organization of the Mediterranean Technical, Vocational Education and Training Forum on June 5-6, in cooperation with the Italian Ministry of Education. The Forum is part of an initiative aimed at building sustainable development partnerships among African and Mediterranean countries and strengthening Euro-Mediterranean cooperation in the field of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
In a statement, the Ministry said the Forum aims to transform the Mediterranean region into a strategic platform for cooperation in technical and vocational education, future skills development, digital transformation, innovation, employment, industry-education linkage, and youth empowerment.
The Forum is scheduled to open next Friday in Egypt’s New Capital under the patronage and attendance of the Minister of Education and Technical Education Mohamed Abdel Latif and the Minister of Education of Italy Giuseppe Valditara, alongside a number of education ministers, officials, education policymakers, company representatives, teachers and students from 12 countries: Egypt, Italy, Cyprus, Greece, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Algeria, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, and Tunisia.
The Ministry added that the Forum seeks to establish an integrated ecosystem connecting technical schools, Italy’s Higher Technical Institutes (ITS), Egypt’s Applied Technology Schools, industrial and technology companies, students, experts, and decision-makers, thereby creating a clear pathway linking education to employment opportunities.
The statement further explained that the Forum would help reinforce the Mediterranean countries’ stand as a strategic space for joint investment in skills, innovation and Youth empowerment. It will feature high-level ministerial sessions and panel discussions focused on developing a shared vision for skills and human capital in the age of artificial intelligence, as well as exploring ways to strengthen institutional partnerships among countries in the region through bilateral and multilateral meetings.
The Forum will also include a number of innovation workshops for students and teachers inspired by the Italian “Hackathon” model. These workshops will bring together students from across the Mediterranean region in multinational teams to foster creativity, technical knowledge, and interdisciplinary thinking.
In addition, the gathering will host a technical and technological education exhibition featuring national pavilions from participating countries, showcasing educational strategies, models, applied projects, and successful experiences in technical education and vocational training.
