In celebration of its 50th anniversary, Eko Hotels & Suites is hosting the Africa Legacy Summit on May 15 and 16, 2026, in Lagos. According to a statement from the firm on Sunday, the summit aims to promote tourism as one of the continent’s untapped potentials.

It noted that the theme of the summit, “African Hospitality: Rich with Possibility, Ready for Afro Collaboration,” underscored the importance of partnerships in driving tourism growth. It added that collaboration between governments, investors, airlines, and cultural sectors remains key to unlocking the continent’s tourism potential, particularly as countries seek economic diversification and job creation.

According to the firm, growth must be backed by coordination. It added that across Africa, infrastructure deficits, fragmented visa policies, and inconsistent destination branding have continued to limit tourism flows. It added that the summit would focus on actionable strategies, including attracting international investment, improving hospitality standards, and strengthening connectivity between African destinations and global travel networks.

Speaking ahead of the event, the hotel’s Director of Sales and Marketing, Iyadunni Gbadebo, said the summit reflected a broader shift in positioning Africa as a destination of structured opportunity rather than untapped promise. She noted that the gathering aimed to redefine Africa’s place in global tourism by strengthening collaboration and investment across the industry.

“If the conversations in Lagos succeed, they may help shift the narrative from Africa as a destination of untapped promise to one of organised opportunity. In tourism, as in diplomacy, the welcome matters and Africa appears ready to extend one,” Gbadebo highlighted.
