Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty met on Monday, June 1st, 2026, with Togo’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and Togolese Abroad Robert Dussey on the sidelines of the Korea-Africa Ministerial Meeting to discuss ways of enhancing bilateral relations and exchange views on issues of mutual interest.
Abdelatty praised growing momentum in relations between the two countries, stressing Egypt’s keenness on further strengthening cooperation and elevate ties to broader horizons. He underscored the importance of boosting economic and trade cooperation and encouraging Egyptian companies to participate in development projects in Togo, given their extensive expertise and capabilities in various sectors, especially infrastructure, electricity, contracting, agriculture, pharmaceutical manufacturing localization and port development.
The meeting also addressed ways to enhance cooperation in technology localization and digital capacity building. Abdelatty highlighted Egypt’s commitment to supporting African efforts aimed at developing national skills and strengthening institutional capacities through training programs organized by the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development (EAPD) and the Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding (CCCPA) in Africa, contributing to sustainable development and deeper African integration.
The two ministers also exchanged views on developments in the Great Lakes and Sahel regions. Abdelatty, further, reaffirmed Egypt’s support for efforts aimed at promoting security and stability as well as resolving conflicts through peaceful means. He commended Togo’s pivotal role in mediation and promoting stability in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Sahel region.
