“Egypt’s agricultural exports have surpassed 5.8 million tons so far this year,” Agriculture and Land Reclamation Minister Alaa Farouk said. He highlighted growing global demand for Egyptian products and ongoing efforts to expand international markets. According to a report by the central administration of plant quarantine, citrus fruits topped the export list with more than 2.2 million tons, followed by fresh potatoes with over 908,000 tons and sweet potatoes with around 218,000 tons.
The report showed that grape exports exceeded 147,000 tons, while fresh and dry beans reached about 125,000 tons. Fresh onion exports surpassed 123,000 tons, strawberry exports exceeded 39,000 tons, and fresh garlic reached nearly 34,000 tons, with significant exports of guavas and pomegranates.
Farouk said the ministry, through the plant quarantine authority and in coordination with relevant bodies, is working to open new global markets and meet strict import requirements to boost Egypt’s export reach. He added that the continued expansion reflects growing international confidence in Egypt’s monitoring and traceability systems and confirms the compliance of Egyptian agricultural products with global safety and quality standards.
