Transport Minister Kamel El-Wazir said on Monday, August 17, 2026, that the 2026-2027 budget of the Holding Company for Maritime and Land Transport (HCMLT) reflects progress achieved by the company and its subsidiaries over the past four years, targeting revenues of EGP 29.922 billion and net profit of EGP 19.589 billion.
The targets are intended to support expansion in activities and services, maximize returns on state-owned assets, and improve passenger and freight transport services, Wazir said. He made the remarks while chairing the general assembly meeting of HCMLT, which discussed and approved the estimated budget for fiscal year 2026-2027 and reviewed programs and projects implemented between 2022-2026.
The measures are part of an integrated plan to restructure the company, enhance asset efficiency, improve financial and operational performance, develop human resources, advance digital transformation and diversify activities. Wazir said the restructuring program was not aimed solely at addressing losses, but also at rebuilding subsidiaries on more efficient economic and operational foundations, maximizing the use of state assets and generating sustainable returns.
The program also seeks to strengthen passenger and freight transport fleets, improve employee efficiency and enhance the companies’ competitiveness, he added. The minister said the company is entering a new phase focused on building on the achievements of recent years, continuing development plans, maximizing the economic return on investments and assets, upgrading passenger and freight fleets, and improving human resources.
These efforts would enhance the competitiveness of the companies and strengthen Egypt’s position as a regional hub for maritime transport and logistics, Wazir said. The general assembly reviewed the consolidated budget targets for the holding company, its subsidiaries and affiliated companies for 2026/2027.
The companies are targeting revenues of EGP 17.628 billion, up 12.5% from the expected figure for 2025/2026, and net profit of EGP 9.763 billion, an increase of 11.3%. With the addition of the targets of Alexandria Container and Cargo Handling Company, total revenues are projected to reach EGP 29.922 billion and net profit EGP 19.589 billion.
At the holding company level alone, the budget targets revenues of EGP 6.664 billion, an 8% increase, and net profit of EGP 5.789 billion, up 9.9%.
