Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat discussed on Monday, August 17, 2026, with UAE Ambassador to Cairo Hamad Al-Zaabi ways to enhance joint cooperation and support investment in various fields of electricity and renewable energy. Esmat underscored the depth and distinctive nature of the relations between the two countries and their peoples, reflected in longstanding ties and fraternal positions that serve as an ideal model for constructive cooperation among Arab countries.
The minister highlighted the active role of UAE companies working with the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy and its affiliated companies and entities, particularly in renewable energy and diversifying energy sources. He said there was extensive cooperation and successful partnerships with UAE companies within the framework of the national energy strategy and the state’s drive toward the energy transition, greater reliance on renewable energy and expansion of battery-based energy storage systems.
Esmat outlined measures taken to support and encourage private-sector participation in solar and wind energy projects, as well as projects to support, develop and modernize the national electricity grid and increase its capacity to accommodate new generation capacities.
He affirmed that UAE companies are successful partners in numerous electricity-sector projects, particularly renewable energy projects, noting that the private sector is a key partner in implementing the electricity sector’s strategy. He added that the government supports and encourages private investment to assume its intended role in the national economy, with the private sector leading solar and wind energy projects.
For his part, Ambassador Al-Zaabi praised Egyptian-UAE relations, describing them as a model for Arab cooperation. He noted that the two countries share deep historical and cultural ties, as well as broad common interests reflected in their partnership across various fields, including investment and trade.
