Supply and Internal Trade Minister Sherif Farouk will travel to Russia to participate in the fifth Russian Grain Forum, scheduled to take place in Sochi from May 20 to 23, 2026. Farouk’s participation comes at the invitation of Russian Agriculture Minister Oksana Lut, who is hosting him as the forum’s guest of honor amid growing cooperation between Egypt and Russia in food security and grain trade.
The forum is organized by the Russian Union of Grain Exporters and Producers, with support from the Russian Agriculture Ministry. It will bring together senior officials, decision-makers and representatives of international companies involved in grain production, trade and exports, as well as experts and organizations focused on food security and global supply chains.
Held under the theme “The Grain Industry in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Productivity, Technology and Export,” the forum will address key strategic issues affecting the global grain sector. Discussions will cover preliminary results of the past agricultural season, forecasts for the 2026/2027 season, global trade strategies amid geopolitical and economic challenges and ways to improve export infrastructure and supply chain efficiency.
On the sidelines of the event, Farouk is expected to hold bilateral meetings with ministers, officials and representatives of international institutions and companies to discuss expanding cooperation in grain trade, securing supply chains and exchanging expertise in support of Egypt’s food security efforts and strategic commodity needs.
The minister’s participation reflects Egypt’s broader efforts to strengthen international cooperation and expand strategic partnerships to support market stability, diversify supply sources and bolster the country’s ability to address global food security challenges and achieve sustainable development.
