Segilola Resources Operating Limited has commissioned infrastructure and community development projects in Osun State, including a rehabilitated road network and a community-owned water production facility in Ijesaland. The projects were unveiled during a visit by His Imperial Majesty, the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup (Ajimoko III), to the company’s operations in Odo-Ijesa as part of an inspection tour of industries and development initiatives in the region.

A statement from the firm on Sunday stated that the Deputy General Manager of SROL, Mr Olusola Olusomidomo, received the monarch on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer, Mr Segun Lawson. During the visit, the monarch toured key company assets, including the Segilola Gold Mine, the site pit, the Ogere-Ekun Golden Water Factory in Iperindo, and the LRP Ifesowapo Fish Market.

SROL said the projects are part of its Community Development Agreement obligations aimed at supporting infrastructure development, economic empowerment, and sustainable growth in host communities. The company disclosed that the initiatives have created direct employment for more than 80 indigenes, with 27 per cent of its workforce drawn from host communities and 25 per cent from Osun State.

It said the Ogere-Ekun Golden Water Factory, located on Araromi Street in Iperindo, was developed as a community-owned venture under the CDA framework. The facility is designed to produce 3,000 litres of treated water per hour when fully operational. “It is equipped with reverse osmosis and ozone treatment systems, sachet and bottle water production lines, shrink-wrapping units, labelling and capping machines, and a 60kVA backup generator.

Supporting infrastructure includes a borehole, storage tanks, sterilisation units, production halls, and a loading bay,” it stated. It is governed by a Board of Trustees made up of community representatives. The company also completed the rehabilitation of a 2.4-kilometre road linking Imogbara and Odo-Ijesa. The project involved grading, laterite filling and compaction, and the construction of interlocking stone pavement.

Drainage channels and culverts were also installed to improve durability and reduce flooding. Speaking during the commissioning, Oba Haastrup commended SROL for its investments in host communities, noting that the company has provided employment to more than 2,000 people across the South-West, with 40 per cent drawn from Ijesaland.

The monarch also stressed the importance of Community Development Agreements and sustained corporate social responsibility efforts that deliver direct benefits to host communities. Highlighting the impact of the projects, the Community Development and Stakeholder Manager at SROL, Madhurii Sarkar-Amoda, said access to clean water and improved infrastructure were central to the company’s intervention strategy.

She noted that the water project would help address challenges of unsafe drinking water in rural communities, while the road rehabilitation would improve connectivity, safety, and economic activity between Imogbara and Odo-Ijesa. SROL said the projects reflect its continued commitment to infrastructure development and long-term partnerships with host communities in Osun State.
