Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority Osama Rabie on Monday, September 7, 2026, discussed with Waqas Samad, CEO of Lloyd’s List Intelligence, ways to enhance cooperation and joint coordination. During the meeting, held at the authority’s headquarters in Ismailia, Rabie said the Suez Canal Authority places the interests and requirements of its customers at the forefront of its priorities.
In this regard, he noted that the authority has adopted flexible marketing policies and launched several initiatives supporting the green transition, in line with the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) efforts to protect the marine environment and reduce carbon emissions.
The authority's chairman affirmed that the Canal continues to develop its navigational services and strengthen its leading position through the continuous development of the Canal’s navigational channel and the modernization of the marine fleet of its affiliated vessels.
For his part, Samad expressed his appreciation for the visit, which provided an opportunity to learn firsthand about the Suez Canal and its role in supporting the sustainability of global supply chains despite various challenges. He stressed that the Suez Canal is a strategic and vital artery for global trade between East and West.
Samad praised the authority’s efforts in managing various challenges and crises, as well as its continuous communication with customers to ensure the continuity and efficiency of transit operations through the Canal. He expressed hope that stability would return to the region, positively affecting navigation volumes through the canal.
