“The Regional Training Center for Water Resources and Irrigation (RCTWS) has obtained ISO 9001:2015 certification,” the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation announced Thursday, October 9, 2026. Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hani Sewilam received a report from the Center’s Head, Salwa Abul-Ala, confirming that the center had successfully passed an external audit of its quality management system in line with the requirements of the ISO 9001:2015 international standard.
The center has also completed the procedures required to obtain the certification. The report outlined the center’s efforts to strengthen quality management by developing and implementing internal procedures, conducting internal audits and management reviews, and monitoring performance.
These measures promote continuous improvement and enhance training efficiency through the systematic planning, design, implementation and evaluation of programs aimed at building the capacity of water sector employees. Sewilam said the certification reflects the ministry’s commitment to promoting quality and institutional excellence and improving training services across the water sector.
He highlighted the importance of implementing an integrated quality management system, modernizing organizational processes and preparing qualified personnel to meet future challenges. He added that developing training programs and building the capacity of water sector employees are key to achieving the objectives of the Second Generation of the Water System (2.0), which focuses on modernizing the sector, improving water-use efficiency, advancing institutional and digital transformation, and investing in human resources as a key driver of development.
The minister said the certification marks an important step toward upgrading the training system and ensuring that the center’s services meet established standards of quality, efficiency and continuous improvement. He stressed the need for the center to continue updating its programs to meet the current and future needs of the water sector, helping prepare qualified personnel to address growing challenges and make effective use of modern technologies, digital transformation tools and artificial intelligence in water resources management.
Sewilam praised the center’s staff for their sustained efforts to improve institutional performance and implement quality standards, noting that further improvements in training services would support the ministry’s objectives of developing human resources and enhancing water management efficiency.
