Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly witnessed on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, the signing of a letter of intent between the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and global technology company Cisco Systems to cooperate on implementing national digital initiatives and supporting Egypt's national artificial intelligence strategy.

The signing ceremony was attended by Minister of Communications and Information Technology Raafat Hindi, Chairman and CEO of Cisco Chuck Robbins and Cisco's Executive Vice President and Chief People, Policy and Purpose Officer Francine Katsoudas. The letter aims to establish cooperation in implementing Egypt's priority national digital initiatives, with a focus on expanding the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to support the country's national AI strategy.

This will be achieved by leveraging Cisco's global expertise and innovative solutions to explore opportunities to support the adoption and scaling of AI solutions across government and priority sectors, with the aim of enhancing service delivery, improving operational efficiency and supporting decision-making.

The cooperation will also involve exploring opportunities to drive innovation, economic diversification and productivity through AI-powered initiatives, as well as strengthening national capabilities in AI, including skills development, institutional capacity building and expanding AI applications in Egypt.

Following the signing, Madbouly affirmed the state's commitment to expanding the implementation of numerous digital initiatives that would contribute to developing greater capabilities and skills among young people in various technological fields. He said this supports the state's drive toward digital transformation and expanding the use and application of AI across numerous sectors, with the aim of improving the quality of government services provided to citizens across various sectors and fields.

In this regard, Hindi said the cooperation reflects the ministry's commitment to strengthening partnerships with major global companies and benefiting from their expertise to accelerate the adoption of AI solutions. This supports the state's efforts to build a competitive digital economy based on digital innovation and advanced technologies.
