Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly said on Sunday, July 12, 2026, that the government considers new and renewable energy projects a cornerstone of securing energy supplies and achieving sustainable development. Madbouly made these remarks during a meeting held to review progress on the implementation of renewable energy projects.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat via video conference, Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk, Assistant Finance Minister for the Budget Ali El-Sisi, Head of the Infrastructure and Economic Affairs Budgets Sector at the Finance Ministry Ahmed Samir, Assistant Minister of Planning for Infrastructure Nehad Morsi and other officials.
"The meeting aims to review the implementation rate of the underway projects to ensure implementation plans remain on track and to resolve any obstacles that could hinder progress," Madbouly said. He stressed that no project should be halted or delayed, particularly with the start of the new fiscal year.
Madbouly highlighted the government's close monitoring of payments due to international and local partners implementing the projects, stressing the need to adhere to agreed payment schedules to support the strategic partnership with the private sector and strengthen the investment climate in the vital sector.
He said a follow-up meeting would be held with Central Bank of Egypt Governor Hassan Abdalla and Finance Minister to review arrangements for securing the financial allocations required for the projects and to determine the next steps ahead of presenting the matter to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
For his part, Esmat reviewed the implementation status of renewable energy projects, reaffirming the government's commitment to the national strategy of maximizing the use of natural resources and increasing the share of clean energy in Egypt's energy mix. He said the plan includes upgrading the national electricity grid to accommodate additional generating capacity and expanding energy storage systems, alongside strengthening partnerships with the private sector to keep projects on schedule.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Finance reviewed efforts to secure financing for the projects in coordination with the Central Bank, reaffirming the government's commitment to making regular payments to project partners to reinforce the strategic partnership with the private sector and attract further investment in the sector.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Madbouly directed the ministries of electricity and finance and the Central Bank to maintain close coordination and integrated action to monitor project financing on an ongoing basis and address any regulatory obstacles.
