Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly said on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, Monufia Governorate has strong potential in agriculture, industry and services, stressing the need to continue implementing development and service projects with the highest standards of efficiency and quality.
His remarks came during a meeting to review the implementation status of development and service projects in the governorate, attended by Minister of Local Development and Environment Manal Awad and Monufia Governor Amr El-Gharib. Madbouly said the government is committed to accelerating the completion of ongoing projects, removing implementation obstacles and enhancing coordination among relevant authorities to achieve sustainable development goals.
He stressed that the government's main objective is to improve public services, create more job opportunities and support comprehensive development across the governorate. For his part, Gharib reviewed the governorate's investment plan, which aims to support comprehensive development, upgrade infrastructure and public services and achieve balanced spatial development in line with Egypt Vision 2030.
He said the 2025/2026 fiscal year investment plan, comprising 130 projects in transport, roads, environmental improvement, local and community services, economic development and urban and rural development, has reached a 100% implementation rate. The governor reviewed efforts to stabilize markets by intensifying inspections, combating monopolistic practices and ensuring the availability of essential commodities.
He also highlighted a 63% increase in wheat procurement to more than 175,000 tons, supported by expanded storage capacity. He outlined progress in environmental projects, including a waste recycling plant, a transfer station and sanitary landfill facilities, as well as continued expansion of drinking water and sanitation services across the governorate.
The meeting also reviewed developments in healthcare, education, youth and sports, with ongoing projects to upgrade hospitals, schools and sports facilities. In addition, the governor highlighted investment opportunities supported by two industrial zones, a free investment zone and an industrial workforce of around 100,000.
Gharib also reviewed progress under the presidential "Housing for All Egyptians" initiative, noting that 16 feddans have been allocated for one of the governorate's largest housing projects and that 1,672 housing units have been completed according to the latest construction and planning standards.
Regarding the legalization of building violations and the regularization of state-owned land, he said Monufia ranks among the top governorates nationwide. The meeting also reviewed progress in digital transformation, including the development and modernization of 13 technological service centers, completion of electronic connectivity among them and the establishment of centralized databases to support decision-making and project monitoring.
