Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly held a meeting on Monday, August 17, 2026, at the government's headquarters in New Alamein City to follow up on progress on the national project to develop the Cotton and Textile Industries Holding Company (CTIHC). The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Hussein Issa, Electricity and Renewable Energy Minister Mahmoud Esmat and Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Mohamed Farid Saleh, who joined by videoconference.
Also attending were Hashem El-Sayed, Assistant to the Prime Minister and CEO of the State-Owned Companies Unit; Ahmed Shaker, CTIHC Chairman; and Saeed Arafa, Assistant Minister for Investment and Foreign Trade. The Premier said the government attaches great importance to reviving this vital industry, especially as the State seeks to restore the global standing of Egyptian cotton, boost the private sector’s role in operations and management, and maximize the sector’s available resources and potential.
El-Sayed and Shaker also briefed the meeting on the latest measures to develop the CTIHC, with a focus on restoring Egypt’s historic position in the industry by adopting the latest technologies and production techniques. The measures are aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of Egyptian cotton products, opening up new regional and international markets and increasing exports.
