Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly said on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, the government's commitment to closely monitoring the implementation of renewable and new energy projects emphasizing that all ongoing projects are subject to continued follow-up as part of Egypt's broader strategy to diversify energy sources and increase the share of renewables in the national energy mix.
The prime minister's remarks came during a meeting to review the latest developments in renewable energy projects. Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat and senior officials from Hassan Allam Holding took part in the meeting. Madbouly highlighted the pivotal role played by both international and domestic companies in supporting Egypt's ambitious renewable energy agenda, describing them as key partners in implementing the state's strategy to maximize the country's significant renewable energy potential.
He stressed the importance of accelerating the execution of projects signed between the Ministry of Electricity and the participating companies. For his part, the minister of electricity said the ministry is implementing a national strategy aimed at increasing the contribution of renewable energy sources, improving energy efficiency and expediting the rollout of new projects.
He also said efforts are also underway to strengthen and modernize the national power grid to accommodate additional generation capacity. The minister said all initiatives are part of Egypt's broader sustainable development agenda and its efforts to enhance long-term energy security.
Esmat also underscored the importance of expanding energy storage systems, describing them as a critical component in ensuring grid stability and maximizing the utilization of renewable energy resources. He reaffirmed the private sector's essential role in developing renewable energy projects and stressed the ministry's commitment to encouraging greater private-sector participation in the sector.
During the meeting, the minister also reviewed the implementation status of renewable energy projects, progress rates, procurement schedules, and project timelines. He also outlined the projects being executed through cooperation between the ministry and the consortium of participating companies.
