Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly affirmed that the Egyptian government stands ready to provide the necessary support, within the rules and procedures governing investment in Egypt, to accelerate project implementation and achieve tangible progress in exploration and production activities in the coming period.
Madbouly made the remarks during a meeting with a delegation from US energy giant Chevron on the sidelines of his participation, on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, in the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The meeting was attended by Egypt's Ambassador to the US Mohamed Hamdy El Molla.
At the outset of the meeting, the Prime Minister praised the strong relationship between Egypt's petroleum sector and Chevron, expressing his interest in expanding cooperation in light of the company's expertise as one of the world's major energy companies with a significant presence in the Eastern Mediterranean.
The Prime Minister expressed Egypt's interest in seeing Chevron expand its exploration activities in the country by taking advantage of government incentives and assessing available areas that align with the company's strategy and technical capabilities. Chevron officials, for their part, underscored the importance of the company's investments and presence in Egypt and expressed their willingness to further expand their operations in the coming period, including increasing exploration and production activities in Egypt and across the Eastern Mediterranean.
