Planning and Economic Development Minister Ahmed Rostom met on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, with CEO of the Egyptian Space Agency (EGSA) Maged Ismail to discuss cooperation and ways to harness space science and technology in support of Egypt’s sustainable development goals.
The meeting reviewed the EGSA’s key projects under the 2026-27 economic and social development plan, focusing on expanding the use of space applications across various sectors. Rostom highlighted the agency’s role in localizing advanced technologies, transferring knowledge and building national capabilities in space science and technology, saying such efforts could help develop innovative solutions to development challenges.
The two sides stressed the need for closer coordination to maximize national capabilities in space technology and ensure innovation contributes to the objectives of Egypt’s development plans.
