President of Nigeria–Britain Association. The Nigeria–Britain Association has elected a new leadership team to steer the organisation’s affairs for the 2026/2027 tenure. The group, in a statement on Tuesday, reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening bilateral relations between Nigeria and the United Kingdom through strategic engagement, cultural exchange, and professional collaboration.
The new executives emerged at the association’s 57th Annual General Meeting held in Lagos, where members gathered to review the organisation’s activities over the past financial year, assess its achievements, and chart a course for future growth. At the meeting, members elected Ademola Sanya as president of the association.
He was supported by Dr Bisi Bright, who was elected vice president, and Gafar Odubote, who emerged as honorary secretary. Also elected into the executive committee were Funmilola Orokale as honorary treasurer and Adeleke Nadi as assistant honorary secretary. In addition to the executive officers, 13 members were elected into the governing council to support the implementation of the association’s strategic objectives and programmes.
The meeting also served as an opportunity to reaffirm the organisation’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria-UK relations through dialogue, networking opportunities, and partnerships across business, culture, education, and professional sectors. Founded to promote friendship and cooperation between both nations, the Nigeria–Britain Association has over the years served as a forum for dialogue among business leaders, policymakers, diplomats, and professionals, facilitating conversations on issues of mutual interest and supporting initiatives that strengthen bilateral ties.
Under the new administration, the association said it would continue to promote structured programmes, policy dialogue, and strategic partnerships aimed at fostering greater understanding and collaboration between Nigeria and the United Kingdom. The organisation added that it remains committed to advancing its longstanding mission of serving as a leading platform for Nigeria-UK engagement while creating opportunities for meaningful exchanges across cultural, professional, and economic spheres.
