Egypt's food industries sector is among the government's top priorities for achieving the goals of its industrials strategy 2030, Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem said on Tuesday, June 2, 2026. Speaking during a visit to the 14th edition of the Food Ingredients Africa (Fi Africa) exhibition and ProPak MENA processing and packaging exhibition in Cairo, Hashem said the ministry aims to position Egypt as a leading global food manufacturing hub through stronger industrial partnerships, innovation, technology localization and increased value-added production.
The Minister of Industry said the food industries sector plays a key role in supporting industrial value chains, meeting domestic demand and boosting exports by helping Egyptian products access new markets. The exhibitions, held alongside the FoodGuard Summit and organized by Informa Markets, bring together manufacturers, industry experts and decision-makers to showcase the latest technologies in food processing, packaging and manufacturing, he added.
More than 400 exhibitors are participating in this year's events, which are expected to attract over 15,000 visitors from 35 countries. The exhibitions also feature panel discussions and workshops on developments in food manufacturing, processing and packaging.
