The Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade has launched a training grant to qualify Egyptian companies and enhance their export capabilities, under a cooperation protocol between the ministry’s Foreign Trade Training Center and Export Development Fund. The grant aims to support companies and their employees and enhance their readiness to meet the requirements of international markets.
The grant targets companies operating in the food, medical industries, as well as textiles and garments sectors. The Export Development Fund will cover 75 percent of the cost of the training programs, while trainees will contribute the remaining 25 percent. Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid Saleh said developing the capabilities of Egyptian companies and enhancing their export readiness are key pillars of the ministry’s strategy to increase exports and strengthen the competitiveness of Egyptian products.
He stressed the importance of qualifying company employees to meet the requirements of foreign markets, noting that integrating support and training tools provided by the ministry’s affiliated entities enables companies to benefit from specialized programs that help develop their capabilities and improve their export readiness.
Saleh said the company qualification project in targeted export sectors has already begun, with two training courses held for 42 trainees. The programs aim to develop knowledge and skills related to various stages of the export process. Meanwhile, Executive Director of the Foreign Trade Training Center Mary Kamel said cooperation with the Export Development Fund represents a model for integrating support and capacity-building tools within the ministry by providing specialized training programs that address the actual needs of companies seeking to expand their export activities.
The training programs cover various stages of the export process, starting with assessing the readiness of products and companies for export, selecting target markets and studying their requirements, followed by pricing, export procedures and documentation, payment and financing methods, and trade-risk insurance.
The programs also cover export risk management and compliance with commercial and technical requirements and regulations, as well as training on trade agreements and requirements for accessing international markets. They also include training on the use of artificial intelligence tools in exports to identify markets and customers, analyze information and support commercial decision-making, helping enhance the efficiency of companies and their employees and strengthen their competitiveness in international markets.
