Industry Minister Khaled Hashem said on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, that the ability to deploy and integrate technology into production systems has become a key determinant of competitiveness and investment attraction, as rapid advances in artificial intelligence and digital technologies reshape global business and manufacturing models.
Speaking at the opening of the eighth FDC Digital Industry Summit in New Cairo, Hashem said technological modernization and smart manufacturing are central to the ministry’s strategy to strengthen Egypt’s industrial base, deepen local production and boost exports.
He said the ministry is supporting digital transformation, AI and industrial automation to improve quality, production and supply-chain efficiency, cut costs and enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian products. Hashem urged companies to increase investment in industrial and technological solutions, stressing the importance of cybersecurity and workforce development as manufacturing becomes increasingly digital.
He also highlighted Egypt’s potential as a regional production and export hub, supported by its geographic location, infrastructure and trade agreements.
