Transport Minister Kamel El Wazir said on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, that Egyptian-Saudi relations represent a distinguished model of fraternal and strategic ties, based on longstanding historical bonds, shared interests and convergence in views and positions.
El Wazir made the remarks during a visit to the Saudi Embassy in Cairo to congratulate Saudi Ambassador to Egypt Saleh bin Eid Al-Husseini on the Kingdom’s National Day. He conveyed greetings of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly to Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and the Saudi people, wishing the Kingdom continued progress and prosperity.
El Wazir said the recent visit by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to Egypt and his meeting with President El Sisi reflected the depth of Egyptian-Saudi ties and the support they receive from the two countries’ leaderships. He stressed the need to build on existing cooperation and expand economic, investment and trade partnerships, noting that the Egyptian-Saudi Supreme Coordination Council provides an important institutional framework for advancing bilateral cooperation.
The minister also highlighted extensive cooperation in transport and logistics, particularly the Southern Arab Trade Corridor linking Europe and the Gulf through Egypt and extending from Safaga Port to Saudi Arabia’s Neom Port. He said Egypt is implementing eight integrated international development logistics corridors linking Red Sea and Mediterranean ports and the Suez Canal with dry ports and industrial, agricultural and mining zones.
The corridors are supported by modern railway, electric high-speed rail and road networks aimed at reducing cargo transit times and costs, boosting Egypt’s competitiveness and strengthening its role as a regional transport, logistics and transit trade hub. For his part, Al-Husseini expressed appreciation for the minister’s congratulations, stressing that Egyptian-Saudi relations constitute a model of cooperation and integration supported by the leaderships of both countries.
