Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem said that the Misr Spinning and Weaving Company complex in El Mahalla El Kubra is a cornerstone of Egypt's textile industry and a major pillar of the government's program to modernize the sector. During a tour of the complex, Hashem stated that the 2.5 million-square-meter facility represents a total investment of EGP 27 billion.
It produces more than 10,000 tons of yarn annually, alongside 1.9 million garments and textile products and 8.3 million meters of fabric, while generating annual exports worth EGP 1.37 billion and providing roughly 14,000 direct and indirect jobs. The Minister inspected several production facilities, including spinning, weaving, preparation and dyeing plants, where he reviewed ongoing expansion work and production capacity.
Hashem added that the company, founded in 1927, represents an integrated manufacturing complex covering the entire textile production chain, helping increase local manufacturing, reduce imports and add value to Egyptian long-staple cotton.
