Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi confirmed on Friday, July 31, 2026, that natural gas and fuel supplies for electricity generation plants and all consumption sectors are fully secured. The minister made the remarks during a visit to the National Control Center for the national natural gas network at GASCO, where he reviewed the network’s operational status and was briefed on plans to secure the local market’s needs throughout August.
Badawi reviewed the implementation of various operating scenarios and instructed officials to continue monitoring the situation, increase readiness levels, and respond quickly to any changes to ensure the stability of the supply system. He said the current stability of energy supplies reflects the success of early preparations and proactive plans developed ahead of the summer season, as well as close coordination between the ministries of petroleum and electricity, with continued support from the political leadership and the prime minister.
The minister added that previously prepared emergency plans, alternative operating scenarios, and backup measures have proven effective in responding to developments and ensuring the continued supply of gas and fuels to the country, while maintaining stable electricity generation.
He also noted that the petroleum ministry continues to monitor all elements of the supply system around the clock to ensure reliability, flexibility, and the sustained operation of the national natural gas network.
