Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk said on Monday, September 21, 2026, that easing procedures for taxpayers and citizens and improving Egypt's tax system were his top priorities. He added that the ministry was ready to implement any proposals that would encourage voluntary compliance and attract new taxpayers.
Kouchouk made the remarks during an open dialogue with outstanding employees from the Egyptian Tax Authority and Customs Authority who had completed a qualification program at the National Training Academy. "I am very pleased with the ideas I have heard, which reflect a genuine desire to improve tax and customs services," he said.
The minister stressed that building a "partnership of trust" with the tax community was a top priority of fiscal policy, noting that the results of implementing tax relief packages encouraged the government to continue shifting toward a "customer service" culture.
He said tax revenues had increased over the past two years without imposing any additional burdens, while reducing the obligations and costs borne by the government's partners.
