Electricity and Renewable Energy Minister Mahmoud Esmat said on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, that preparations are underway to receive nuclear fuel for Dabaa nuclear power plant in the next phase of the project. During a meeting with officials from the Nuclear Power Plants Authority and the ministry’s security sector, Esmat reviewed physical protection plans, safety systems and progress in the construction of the project’s security city.
The minister also followed up implementation progress at Dabaa plant, stressing adherence to the project timetable and plans to connect the plant to the national electricity grid. Officials presented updates on security measures, training programs, and coordination with Russian partners to accelerate construction and meet scheduled deadlines.
Esmat said the project reflects strong Egypt-Russia strategic cooperation and forms a key pillar of Egypt’s peaceful nuclear energy program, aiming at diversifying energy sources and reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
