The Alexandria Port Authority received on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, China's consul general in Alexandria to discuss ways of enhancing bilateral cooperation and review investment opportunities and ongoing development projects at the port. During the meeting, both sides highlighted the strength of Egyptian-Chinese relations, particularly in the maritime transport and ports sector, which represents a key pillar of economic cooperation under the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
The talks reviewed ongoing expansion and modernization projects under the Greater Alexandria Port project, including upgrades to infrastructure, specialized terminals and logistics zones aimed at strengthening the port’s role as a regional hub for trade, transport and logistics services in the Mediterranean.
The Chinese side praised the extensive modernization witnessed at Alexandria Port in recent years and expressed interest in expanding cooperation and exploring new investment opportunities to support maritime trade between the two countries.
