Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) Ali el Ghamrawy emphasized that the authority adopts an approach based on continuous dialogue and effective cooperation with various industry partners to support the sustainable development of the pharmaceutical sector and enhance the Egyptian market's readiness for global changes and foreign expansion.

This came during an AmCham roundtable attended by AmCham CEO Sylvia Menassa and several executives from international and local pharmaceutical firms. Ghamrawy said priorities include balancing industry support with providing safe, high-quality medicines for citizens while developing regulations to attract investment and boost global confidence in the Egyptian market.

He highlighted EDA efforts to expand in Africa by facilitating registration and establishing mutual recognition agreements with regional regulators to increase exports. Participants praised EDA regulatory improvements, noting that enhanced transparency and streamlined procedures strengthen market competitiveness and joint cooperation.

Discussions focused on supporting the national industry and policies to establish Egypt as a regional pharmaceutical manufacturing and export hub. Attendees underlined the importance of continued coordination between the EDA and partners to ensure a sustainable and attractive investment environment.

The meeting aligns with the EDA strategy to integrate with industry partners and upgrade regulatory systems according to international quality standards.
