Industry Minister Khaled Hashem Thursday, August 13, 2026, said the ministry is counting on the support of Egyptian ambassadors abroad to strengthen communication with industrial companies in the countries they are dispatched to, along with attracting small and medium-sized companies that rely on leading and unique technologies.
All efforts would contribute to transferring expertise, deepening local manufacturing, and increasing Egyptian exports, the Minister said during a meeting with heads of diplomatic missions transferred to posts abroad to brief them on the Ministry of Industry’s plans and priorities and review Egypt’s industrial strategy.
Hashem said Egyptian embassies and missions abroad serve as a key link for promoting promising investment opportunities in Egypt and supporting priority industrial sectors. “The Ministry had updated the Egypt Industrial Strategy 2030 to increase exports, attract global investment linked to the transfer of technology and industrial expertise, and integrate more deeply into international production chains, thereby strengthening Egypt’s position as a regional industrial hub capable of accessing global markets,” he added.
The State's industrial strategy has identified five industrial groups based on scientific foundations, comprehensive criteria and measurable performance indicators, the minister said, adding that they include priority industries, enabling industries, strategic industries, complementary industries, and circular-economy and recycling industries.
The strategy includes a number of key programs and initiatives, including the "Productive Villages" initiative, which aims to establish 100 small factories in villages over three years. The initiative is intended to reduce transportation costs, curb waste in crops, and enhance the competitiveness of local products, alongside creating jobs for villagers and reducing illegal migration and migration to cities.
“The ministry attaches great importance to developing human capital through the launch of a vocational training program meeting international standards, aimed at improving the quality of technical education graduates and preparing them to compete in global markets,” the Minister added.
Hashem highlighted a program to establish industrial investment funds with citizen participation, directing financing directly to promising industrial projects, particularly those seeking to expand. The first of these funds is expected to become operational in September.
