Nuclear Power Plants Authority Chairman Sherif Helmy held a meeting with a delegation from the Moscow Center of the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) on enhancing technical and institutional cooperation and strengthening coordination in nuclear safety and operational excellence.

The authority is keen to strengthen cooperation with international specialized institutions and benefit from leading global expertise and practices in nuclear safety and operational excellence to support strategic national projects aimed at diversifying energy sources and advancing sustainable development, Helmy said.

In a statement, the authority said the delegation’s visit to Egypt included specialized technical sessions reviewing WANO’s charter and bylaws, technical review and evaluation programs based on international standards, performance analysis, mutual support mechanisms, training and development programs and institutional communication.

The discussions aimed to support improvements in institutional and operational efficiency, the statement said.
