Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem affirmed on Thursday, October 22, 2026, Egypt’s commitment to strengthening industrial cooperation with Côte d’Ivoire leveraging the capabilities of the two countries to achieve mutual economic benefits. The Minister said that Egypt’s Industrial Strategy 2030 includes a pillar dedicated to industrial integration with African countries.
Hashem made the remarks during a meeting with Côte d’Ivoire’s Ambassador to Egypt Albert G. Douly, to discuss ways to enhance industrial cooperation and increase joint investments, focusing on sectors of mutual interest under both countries’ government plans. The meeting was attended by Assistant Minister for International Cooperation Ahmed Maghawry and Supervisor of the Industry Minister’s Technical Office Ahmed Osama.
Hashem said viable industrial projects are key to accelerating bilateral cooperation and overcoming financial and logistical challenges facing joint investments. He added that the Ministry and the Ivorian Embassy had agreed to examine sectors covered by both countries’ strategies to identify potential projects that could be implemented in the near term, based on available resources and capabilities, and meet the needs of both markets.
The two sides reviewed challenges facing joint industrial investments, including the absence of an Egyptian bank in Côte d’Ivoire and a bilateral maritime trade agreement. They also discussed opportunities to expand investment cooperation in targeted industrial sectors.
For his part, Douly affirmed his country’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Egypt and activating bilateral agreements signed during President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s visit to Côte d’Ivoire in 2019, citing convergence of views between the two countries’ political leaderships.
He also said the Ivorian government sought to attract Egyptian industrial investment, particularly in manufacturing. Côte d’Ivoire had adopted a five-year economic development plan through 2030, identifying priority industrial sectors for projects involving the private sector, noted the diplomat.
The plan offers Egyptian companies opportunities to invest directly in Côte d’Ivoire, mainly in tire manufacturing, palm oil processing and agro-industries, supporting broader economic and industrial cooperation between the two countries.
