CEO of Egypt's General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) Mohamed Awad discussed with Vice Chairman & CEO of Dubai Investments PJSC Khalid Jassim Mohammed bin Kalban opportunities for the company to expand its investments in the Egyptian market, as part of the Investment and Foreign Trade Ministry's efforts to boost Arab investment in Egypt.
The meeting was attended by Minister Plenipotentiary and head of Egypt's Commercial Representation Office in the UAE Manal Abdel Tawab.The two sides discussed a number of projects and investment opportunities that the company had previously explored in Egypt, as well as mechanisms for completing the necessary studies and procedures.Awad stressed the importance of leveraging Dubai Investments' experience in developing projects, cities and investment and industrial zones.
He said GAFI was keen on providing UAE companies with the necessary support and incentives to expand in the Egyptian market, in coordination with relevant government agencies, to advance investment opportunities to more advanced stages of implementation.He added that the meeting also discussed the possibility of the company conducting field visits to a number of proposed investment sites to review available opportunities and assess the feasibility of implementing future projects.Bin Kalban expressed Dubai Investments' interest in strengthening its presence in the Egyptian market and capitalizing on available investment opportunities.He further stressed the importance of continued coordination with GAFI and relevant government agencies to study proposed projects and determine mechanisms for their implementation.The two sides agreed to continue coordination in the upcoming period and examine a number of available investment opportunities to support the company's plans to expand its investments in Egypt.
