The Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce (FEDCOC) said its cooperation with the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) has helped strengthen food safety standards and improve the competitiveness of Egyptian food products, supporting efforts to expand exports and access new international markets.
FEDCOC Chairman Ahmed el-Wakil said during a meeting with NFSA Chairman Tarek el-Houby that food safety is a key pillar for boosting investment, increasing exports and protecting consumers. El-Wakil said the partnership has delivered an integrated awareness and training program since 2023 in cooperation with chambers of commerce across Egypt.
The initiative included workshops, seminars and field visits targeting traders, manufacturers and food business operators to improve compliance with local and international food safety standards. The cooperation also facilitated registration and accreditation procedures for food establishments and led to the establishment of authority offices within several chambers of commerce, helping businesses access services more efficiently.
El-Wakil added that the two sides plan to expand training and support programs, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises, to enhance their competitiveness and strengthen Egypt’s food export sector.
