Egypt’s Embassy in New Zealand, in coordination with the New Zealand–Middle East Business Council (NZMEBC) and the New Zealand Embassy in Cairo, participated in a virtual meeting on opportunities in Egypt’s renewable energy sector. The meeting brought together representatives of Egyptian and New Zealand companies, as well as the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), the New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA), and the Egyptian-Australian Business Council.
Both sides reviewed prospects for cooperation in renewable energy, where New Zealand has advanced technological expertise, while Egypt is expanding in this vital sector as part of its plan to generate 45% of electricity from renewable sources in the coming years.
The meeting highlighted promising opportunities for cooperation, including partnerships between Egyptian and New Zealand companies, exchange of expertise in clean and renewable energy, and reviewing available investment opportunities in the Egyptian market. It also reaffirmed the resilience of the Egyptian economy in facing recent regional and international challenges, and the wide range of investment opportunities it offers across various sectors, particularly renewable energy.
